When you think of the state of Indiana, basketball might come to mind first. But the Hoosier state is rich in football also. Notre Dame and Purdue are both rich in football tradition.

On the high school level, Ft.Wayne Bishop Luers is the cream of the crop. The Knights have won an unprecedented four straight state titles and could make it five in 2013.

Bishop Luers is led by talented freshman Noah Wezensky, who started only 5 games last season, but threw for 702 yards and four touchdowns.

“Playing at Bishop Luers has been a wonderful experience,” said Wezensky. “So many good players like Jaylon Smith (2013 Notre Dame LB commit),  Tyvel Jemison and Mike Rogers have come out of the program.

“Winning a state title was amazing. It was my first time in Lucas Oil Stadium and after we won I was still shocked”.

It’s early in the recruiting process for Wezensky, but it’s never too early. Several programs are already showing interest in the talented ninth-grader.

“Indiana, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Penn State have shown interest in me so far. Michigan invited me to their camp in June, but I have to see how my schedule looks then.”

At 6-3, 180-pounds already, Wezensky has all the makings of a future BCS quarterback down the road. He won MVP of the QB group at The Best of the Midwest camp back in February, and showed well at the Adidas Invitational last month.

“Playing close to home is big for me. So playing at a program like Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, or somewhere in the Midwest would be a better fit for me.”

“My recruitment has been going good. It’s early, but I’ve been having fun. It’s nice to have coaches wanting you to visit their schools or camps.”

The future is bright for Wezensky, and maybe he could be a top ten player in the country like Jaylon Smith was in 2013. “Jaylon really helped me out when I first got to Bishop Luers. He has given me advice on recruiting so I will know what to expect.”
