Where has time gone? The last regular season game of 2014 is tonight. This also means the battle between Evansville Reitz and Evansville Mater Dei is upon us. Both teams come in undefeated and ready to claim “Best in the Ville”
Fort Wayne Wayne at Fort Wayne Snider
Wayne: Keion Powers, Deion Powers, Auston Robertson
Snider: S Jesse Bates, RB Money Woods, LB Drew Brelsfoards
No. Reitz: The Panthers average 42 points a game thanks to a trio of players in Seniors Quarterback Evan Dieg, Running Back Malik Higgins and Receiver Nick Hansen. These players have accounted for 54 touchdowns this year. Quarterback Evan Deig is very efficient with a 64% completion and rarely turns the ball over, only 4 interceptions on the year. Malik Higgins is one of the top offensive playmakers in the state. He has almost 2,000 total yards and has 24 total touchdowns on offense. The defense is great at putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks and taking the ball away from offenses. Credit the defense for 16 sacks on the year and 15 interceptions. Defensive Lineman Brock Ashworth and Trevor Fetscher have half of the sack total.
No. Mater Dei: The running game is a huge reason the Wildcats come into tonight’s game undefeated. The offensive line is making way for an offense that averages just under 8 yards each rushing attempt. The Wildcats have 35 rushing touchdowns and 2120 yards on the ground this season. The combination of Senior Julian Weidner and Junior Drayke Richardt provide a solid ground attack that defensive coordinators must prepare for. The Wildcat defensive has had success getting to the quarterback with a 11 sacks on the year.
REITZ 35-17 – The Panthers are the favorites in this ball game due to them being a well balanced team on offense. If the Panther D can stop the run, Mater Dei will need to rely on a Sophomore Quarterback
