Noah Burks

Linebacker

Class of 2016

Carmel High School

Exposure: Hudl film, In-Person Evaluation  vs. Ben Davis and Lawrence Central

HUDL FILM

Strengths: High-impact player – consistent, rugged, and relentless LB for Carmel’s defense.  Performed extremely well in the two in-person games and should excel at the next level.  Has prototypical height and size desired in Division I football.  Has a strong upper body with the frame to get bigger.  Is quick to shed base blocks against bigger guys – can lock out, use his length, and rip under to disengage contact.  Fundamentally-sound tackler – bends at the knees, maintains hitting position, and keeps his neck bulled with good posture.  Exhibits strength at the point of attack – is never flat-footed – can dent people, likes to hit and consistently plays downhill.  Is a great pass rusher with legitimate edge speed – can shoot through gaps and turns the corner with power and explosiveness.  Has the instincts – takes good angles in pursuit on the backside and flashes good range to defend the flat.  Very productive, plays with technique, looks well-coached, and has upside.  Plays on a winning football program.

Weaknesses: Sometimes plays with a narrow base.  Looks a little tight out of a backpedal while defending the pass, and could develop more in the hips.  Primarily bull rushes – could develop an extra move.

Summary: Noah is one of the best linebackers in the state and has emerged as a legitimate Division I prospect.  He should continue to improve during his senior season.  He exhibits quickness to shed blocks, explosiveness as a pass rusher, and strength at the point of attack as a run defender.  He is a high-impact player on a very successful team.
