Brandon Peters

Quarterback

Class of 2016

6’4, 190

 Grade: A

Exposures: Hudl film, In-Person Evaluation 1st half vs. LC

HUDL FILM

Strengths: Offers from Virginia Tech and Iowa. Pocket passer with a strong arm and the tools to excel in major college football. Prototypical height and size; should get bigger over next two years in high school. Flashes the instincts – has good feel for pressure, excels under duress, and quickly scans the field to find an open target.   Flashes poise – makes tough completions with defenders in his face. Solid fundamentals – holds ball high, keeps shoulders level, and exhibits good footwork in the pocket. Has a quick release and a legitimate arm – can throw deep, and should improve during his senior season. Excels on boots and rollouts where he can hit receivers in stride. Good escapability – can buy time with his feet.

Weaknesses: Scrambles a lot – could step up in the pocket and remain a passer more often; Sometimes holds the ball too long and needs to get rid of it quicker. Streaky accuracy – sometimes throws often behind the intended target – receivers have to adjust back to the ball with throws over the middle of the field.

Summary: Peters was flashy on film, exhibiting the arm necessary to play in major college football.  Lately, he has been impressive against quality opponents. He is a legitimate Division I prospect, and I enjoyed seeing him live tonight.
