Indiana Preps: Week 5 Buy or Sell

We’re nearing the midpoint of the 2018 Indiana high school football season and we have noticed a few things trending and noteworthy for our reader’s attention. Here is what we are buying and selling at week five.

Martinsville: BUY
In his second year, head coach Carter Whitson and the Artesians are undefeated and in first place in the competitive Mid-State conference. After a statement win over last year’s conference champion, the Artesians are trending in the right direction.

Columbus North: SELL
The class 6A Bulldogs are ranked no.3 in the latest AP poll and no.4 in the INPreps Power 25 ranking. Coming off back-to-back 9-1 regular season records. This season they have gone unscathed through the toughest part of their schedule sitting at 4-0. There is a very good chance this team goes undefeated in the regular season. Why are we selling? Well, the Center Grove Trojans await the Bulldogs come sectional time. Center Grove is responsible for ending the Bull Dogs season the last six meetings.

Angola: BUY
Fifth-year head coach Andy Thomas has won more games every year since his hiring. Last year the Hornets went 12-1 capturing their first sectional title since 1992. The Hornets are firing on all cylinders and looking to repeat history.

North Central – Indy: SELL
Coach Kevin O’Shea has done a good job in making the North Central Panthers competitive again. In his second year, they have started the season 3-1 with impressive wins in conference crossover games with Hoosier Crossroads opponents. The problem is, this is when the going gets tough. The Panthers won and lost the exact same games this year as they did in 2017. Why are we hopping off this train? The 2017 season ended in six straight losses after the 3-1 start. History is likely to repeat itself in this case.

Western Boone: BUY
We’re buying this stock of the 2018 Western Boone Stars. Here is why. DEFENSE! This stingy Stars defense has given up 12 points so far. That was to one team. They have three shutouts. That includes a 26-0 victory over class 5A Harrison (West Lafayette). Yes the same Harrison that scored 16 points on class 6A Westfield, scored 14 points on class 6A Lafayette Jefferson and 45 points against Logansport. Yet, the class 2A Stars held them out of the endzone.
